Proposal and Case Studiesof Tapes and Film
Customer would like to have a microfluidic channel bonded with an acrylic cover manufactured starting from a single unit.
The acrylic microfluidic channel requested this time was manufactured using cutting processes such as plotter machining and laser processing.
The double-sided adhesive tape used to bond the cover to the channel was die-cut into the same pattern as the microchannel grooves, and then applied for bonding.
When manufacturing microfluidic channels through acrylic machining, adhesives are commonly used to bond the channel and the cover. However, there is a risk of the adhesive seeping into the microchannels, which can make it difficult to maintain stable quality. In contrast, using double-sided tape eliminates the risk of adhesive overflow into the channels.
At CSTEC, we are capable of die-cutting and laser processing adhesive tapes with dimensions nearly identical to the microchannels, enabling highly accurate bonding between the channel and the cover.
In addition to acrylic, we can also apply this tape-bonding method to other plastic molded products. We welcome small-lot prototyping, so please feel free to contact us.
