【MOVIE】Stretchable microchannel made of transparent EPDM rubber

Customer's Challenge

The customer would like to fabricate a microchannel with sealing properties and no leaching of low-molecular-eight siloxanes.

CSTEC's Proposal

A microchannel was fabricated using transparent EPDM rubber. Bonding could be achieved through plasma treatment, resulting in an exceptionally stretchable microchannel with an elongation of up to 700%, a characteristic inherent to EPDM. In addition, due to its low hardness (38 Shore A) of rubber elasticity, the material can be used to height differences in circuits such as biosensors. This enables high sealing performance and allows the microchannel to accommodate a various design requirements.
